Matthias Gill

Mat is the shortened form for Matthias, my name outside of the amusement parks. I'm the oldest member of our group and kind of calming influence, when we are travelling. I sometimes swank about being on the inaugural ride of the 'Thriller' roller coaster in Freiburg 1986. But still, I gained most of my experiences on roller coasters and theme parks at the end of the 90s. After my first visit to Disneyland Paris I realised, that theme parks and amusement parks are not only a place for little children.

As for my friends here at lifthill.net, my first visit to an amusement park in my childhood was the Europa Park. My first visit was -a little ill-considered- three months before its official opening date. It was eastern 1975, when I arrived with my parents at the main gate, facing a huge sign, saying "Europa Park will open its gates on july, 12th 1975". So we had to turn back. But a few weeks later, I had my visit to my first amusement park. I visited a lot of parks together with my friends and rode countless roller coasters since then. And I'm looking forward to every new park visit and each new roller coaster, which I will conquer together with them.

If I'm not screaming my head off on a roller coaster, I like to work with computers -for business as well as in my spare time. Here at lifthill.net my work focus is on English translations and writing reviews about interesting parks and special attractions. I'm encouraged and very happy for every feedback. It's very spurring to me, when our visitors enjoy our work.
